Nice site and Welcome

I just found your site and wanted to say a quick hello. I am Enki from over on Encyc. It looks like we share a common interest in World War II and in running independent wikis. This is great because the more independent sites there are, the more we can represent diverse perspectives and reach more readers. Anyway, good luck, and let me know if you have any questions or I can be of any help. Enki (talk) 16:49, 11 January 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hello Enki and thank you for your comment! I should probably try to make it more clear on the about section that this isn't an encyclopedia, but rather more of a database (?) for the most detailed articles about each subject with the attempt to cover all the known things about said subject. The other thing is to archive as many things from the era as possible. There are still a few things I need to fix and add in order for the site to be at least mostly ready for wide use, one of which is the implementation of the requirement of reading a short version of the WAMoS (WWII Archives Manual of Style) in order to understand the advice and rules of writing and editing articles, which will be shown on the sign-up page. So if you want to see that to know some of the things for writing and editing, you can check that out. I will also have a Multimedia Guide for uploading and managing files.
I also want to mention that as I indicated here and in the about section, you can even (and it is encouraged) put stuff from your own family from the war era on here. You can upload all the photographs, documents, items, etc, as well as write articles about each ancestor. Otherwise you write about any subject from that era that you'd like (I'm a little lenient on stuff relating outside of the war era as long as it has a connection to it being connected to the war era, just more focus should go on the stuff from the WWII era).
Anyways I saw your comment on your profile page and yes there are a few issues that I need to try and fix. Anyways have a great day! Paul Sidle (talk) 19:49, 11 January 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
It's a cool idea. There definitely is interest in that stuff. I went to a book signing by Wild Bill Guarnere and Babe Heffron years ago. The line was out the door. And there are so many stories no one knows about. Enki (talk) 03:33, 12 January 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Wow that is interesting! the most famous vet that I met was one of the last Doolittle raid veterans (when I was a baby lol so I don't remember it). But yes we could get some of those interesting stories still out there! I am trying to search for some veterans in my local senior homes, and I have found some but just need to book an appointment. That is another guide that I will be making, the Interview Guide, but that won't be for some time since I need some experience in order to try and start that.
