Mes Chers Parents
demobilisation prochaine . last but not least .
Bons baisers R. Et Jacques?

My Dear Parents
We were until now in a little
village of Charentes near Saintes , where there wasn’t
a post office, from which news was missing. But
yesterday we surrendered ourselves to the Germans
without having defensive means. We had neither
fought. They had been shitty enough with us . They drove
us in a barracks at Saintes where they didn’t
penetrate and where we still obey my
officers who had been great. We’re going to leave
again for another barracks, this one being full. In any case
we had been made like rats They came
in motorcycles and in cars . Nothing but motorized vehicles.
I have almost no more money but demobilization next
is being talked about . last but not least . Save for
about the barracks and already prisoner besides this fact our
life here is normal. Will you go see Uncle Henri?
Good Kisses R. And Jacques?
