Mes Chers Parents
demobilisation prochaine . last but not least .
Bons baisers R. Et Jacques?

My Dear Parents
We were until now in a little
village of Charentes near Saintes , where there wasn’t
a post office, from which news was missing. But
yesterday we surrendered ourselves to the Germans
without having defensive means. We had neither
fought. They had been shitty enough with us . They drove
us in a barracks at Saintes where they didn’t
penetrate and where we still obey my
officers who had been great. We’re going to leave
again for another barracks, this one being full. In any case
we had been made like rats They came
in motorcycles and in cars . Nothing but motorized vehicles.
I have almost no more money but demobilization next
is being talked about . last but not least . Save for
about the barracks and already prisoner besides this fact our
life here is normal. Will you go see Uncle Henri?
Good Kisses R. And Jacques?

Le Havre le 12·XII

Chers Parents
Rien en à faire . Malgrè mes
efforts j'ai quatre sinistrès chez
moi ; heureusement ce sont des gens
qui ont l'air bien . J'ai eu l'assurance
officielle que vous seriez logè en
rentrant au besoin en requisitionnait
Marc Engelbrecht d'autre part
va.
A part ça il n'y a rien de

Le Havre the 12·XII

Dear Parents
Nothing to do . Despite me
efforts I have four victims at my
place ; funny enough they were people
that seemed to be fine . I had the official
assurance that you all would be lodged while
coming home on the need while requisitioning
Marc Engelbrecht on the other hand
didn't say that you all could disposed
of the house of his mother . This could
not be until Spring
because currently it is needed
to traverse the mines and the route
where big american trucks circulate
without stopping which debark
on the beach , is a sea of mud .
Furthermore the house , all being
in in good condition including roof , doesn't have
any more windows and there aren't
any glass panes here. In 2/3 months things are
going well.
Besides that there is nothing

bien spécial.
Qu'a dit Egloff du Havre?
Question bureau , on a trouvè
une nouvelle histoire : Ne seront
consideres importateurs que ceux
qui auront un des factures d'origine
Tout le monde proteste Vaussard
en tête.
Je ne peux pas aller à Rouen
la sanitaire étant en panne ...
J'ai écrit , à la place.
Dire que je vais avoir 25 ans
que de temps perdu , gâché ... Generation
sacrifiéé. Si au moins cela sert à
quelque chose, je ne regretterais pas
trop de ne pas avoir profitè de
ma jeunesse.
Baisers R.

good special.
What did Egloff say from Le Havre?
Office question , we found
a new trouble : They won't be
considered importers only those
which will have one of the origin fractures
Everyone is protesting Vaussard
at the head.
I cannot go to Rouen
the health-care being down ...
I wrote , to the place.
To say that I am going to be 25 years old
that time lost , wasted ... Sacrificed
generation. If at least this serves to
something, I wouldn't regret
much of not having profited from
my youth.
Kisses R.
