En mer le 1 Novbre


 Chers Parents
Cette lettre vient d'Aden (j'espère)
où nous faisons escale demain.
Personne n'est descendu à terre soit
à Port Saïd soit à Suez. En ce qui concerne
le canal pas grand chose à dire. Figurez vous
un autostade au milieu d'un desert . Un
peu de degetation surtout et presque uniquement
cotè Europe. Des Arabes (très sales). Des soldats
anglais (impeccables). Nous avons croisès des
croiseurs de S.M. et le Monarch of Bermuda
plein de troupes anglaises. TVous voyez d'ici
le cris et les signaux. Inutile de dire egalement
que l'equipage americain regardait ces bateaux
regardait bateaux et passagers avec une
indifference meprisante.
( Excusez les marques de doigts , il est 7h du
soir mais il fait encore diablement chaud)
Nous sommes tous en shorts et casques

At Sea the 1 Novbre


 Dear Parents
This letter just came from Aden (I hope)
or where we make a layover tomorrow.
No one has come down to the earth neither
in Port Saïd nor in Suez. Concerning
the canal nothing major to talk about. Include yourselves
in a motorway in the middle of a desert . A
bit of degredation especially and almost uniquely
coast Europe. Some Arabs (very dirty). Some english
soldiers (impeccable). We crossed some
S.M. cruisers and the Monarch of Bermuda
full of english troops. AYou all see from here
and cries and the signals. Unnecessary to also say
the the American team watched these boats
watched boats and passangers with a
dismissive indifference.
( Excuse the finger marks , it is 7
p.m. but it is still hot as hell)
We are all in shorts and helmets


Situation personnelle toujours idem .
Je bouquine sur le port des officiers ce
qui fait que pas mal de types se
fichent au garde à vous pour me parler
ce qui m'embête et me rend aphone.
Le skipper ne se manifeste aux Français
que par mon intermèdiaire et certains
aspirants palissent d'envie en me voyant
grimper allegrement sur la passerelle.
Je dois vous avouer que je jouis
extremement de cette situation ultra
irrrèguliére.
Comme la chaleur est reconnue
comme incompatible avec les efforts
cerebraux , je stoppe là.

Personal situation still idem .
I am reading on the port of the officers what
makes it not bad amount of guys make
fun of the standing at attention to speak to me
what annoys me and renders me voiceless.
The skipper doesn't protest to the French
than by my intermediary and certain
wannabes pale from envy seeing me
climb cheerfully on the bridge.
I must admit to you all that I extremely
joy from this very irregular
situation.
As the heat is recognized
as incompatible with the intellectual
efforts , I am stopping here.
