Operation Taxable
5 to 6 June 1944
Operation Taxable was the largest of the four deception operations that night, which included dropping dummy parachutists near Boulogne and dropping tens of thousands of metal strips that would jam German radars, creating a screen that would protect a convoy of ships moving across the channel towards Pas-de-Calais. The later was known as "Window". The operation was carried out by 617 Squadron under Captain Leonard Cheshire[1].
